Updated software for our ReadyNAS

Hi to all,

i would like to thank super_poussin for the great job done in the past in order to provide to all the tons of Apps ready to be installed.
By the way, the list of the available application is decreasing, as no more compatible with the ReadyOS upgrade. The last large cutting of application if i remember correctly was almost 3y ago with the new OS6, but then happens later the same also with the Plex (which can be installed manually).

Most of the software which remain available are quite old, and (in particular in the ARM NASes) the apt-get function does not help/cannot be used.

There is any intention for Netgear to upgrade these software?

I know of the extenal website where you can find (purchase) some software.. But the (my) choice to buy a nas from Neatgear was also made on the funtion of these free software that were available before.

Thanks.

  • Almost all of the apps in the Apps section are made by community developers. NETGEAR does not maintain those apps and rely on the developers of their apps to keep them updated. We will commonly remove apps which are no longer compatible as we release new firmware and the developer of the package receives an e-mail to inform them of the pulling. We're reliant on app developers to use our app portal and then go through a small bit of QA before we can post them. We will approve almost any app which meets the standards listed in our SDK.
