Windows cant access RND2000 V2 but its fine in RAIDar
Hi, After tying every solution on here im still unable to access my readynas
- Its visible in raidar
- It was working yesterday, the only thing thats changed is our network switch. All other devices are communicating fine
- Ive changed the cable
- its not pingable on the network
- ive attempted os reinstall several times
- the ip address is 192.168.168.168
- ive added windows credentials for the ip using the default admin/netgear1
- i cant access the web interface as i get an error saying "your netgear storage is not accessible on this computer, please check your network settings"
I havent got a clue why its not pingable if raidar can see it.
Any ideas?

192.168.168.168 is a failover address when the NAS can't get any IP on your DHCP server. Have you checked your router if it is providing any IP?
You may want to check if your NIC has any activity and make sure your NAS can connect to the router. Doing OS-Reinstall your NIC settings should be back to DHCP and be able to get an IP from your server/router.
It's not reachable because your network has a different address.

To add to Marc_V 's reply: RAIDar discovers the NAS using a protocol that is designed to find it even if the IP address isn't compatible with your network. That protocol is working - and is why RAIDar can see it even though you can't connect to it.
In your case DHCP isn't working - that is why the NAS is failing over to 192.168.168.168. The issue could be in your router configuration, or something else unusual in your network.
Before you go down the path Marc has outlined, I suggest that you try the following:
- Disconnect the ethernet cable in the NAS, and then reconnect it. The NAS will try to get a new IP address when you do that, and it might succeed this time.
- If that fails, then power down the NAS and start it up again. That might also result in getting a suitable IP address from the router.
It's best to do a clean shutdown, and avoid pulling the plug.
Can you tell us what firmware RAIDar says you are running? The labeling on the Duos is confusing, and a lot of v1 owners mistakenly think they have a v2. if RAIDar says you are running 4.1.x firmware, then you have a v1. If you are running 5.3.x firmware, then you have a v2. The boot menus for the v1 and v2 aren't the same, and if you try to follow instructions for the wrong platform you could end up losing data.

Sounds to me like my switch isn't working as the DHCP Server.
Ill try my old switch, if that works then that should solve the problem. I've tried reconnecting the cable a few times so far so i think the switch is the problem!

Most switches can't act as DHCP servers - normally that service is done in the router. What model switch do you have?
But it would be worthwhile to test with the old switch (or bypass the switch altogether, and connect directly to the router).
