2014 Firmwareupdate CC3D for Seagate Barracuda Green Drives

After running flawlessly for over a year, I've finally been hit by the bug that causes these drives (ST2000DL003-9VT166) to drop out.

I found the original thread (viewtopic.php?f=24&t=64510) on this topic, however the link within the original locked sticky does not work (cert expired message).

Anyone have a link to the CC3D firmware that Seagate refuses to acknowledge exists? The seagate site tells my my drive is already up to date, yet I'm running the buggy CC3C
or a suggestion on how to get the firmware from Seagate?

Try contacting Seagate support and asking for it.
  • Ha! Funny guy, I never would have thought of that. I was hoping to avoid the frustration of dealing with Seagate and having them tell me I have the latest version and they have no clue.

AND: I've actually been on a call for the past 25 minutes with what could be the MOST HELPFUL support person ever at Seagate, and he can't find the new firmware anywhere, and after talking to his supervisor, basically came back and said according to their system cc32 is the latest version and I'm good to go (I suspect he is over his time allotment per call).

SOOOOO, back to my first question - anyone got a link to the file? Or maybe a Seagate case number where they actually got the file?

UPDATE: Another 15 minutes with a supervisor, and while both guys very helpful, no closer to a solution. He is now going to "investigate" further and get back to me.

Comment: Someone from ReadyNAS should have gotten a case number/contact/reference number at Seagate so that customers that bought these drives off the HCL and got burned could easily call Seagate and have their problem remedied - or ensure that you keep getting fresh download links and update the sticky.
And @Seagate, WTF, how many people have called you about this problem and yet despite providing solutions more than once you still are working the problem as if it's the first time? Talk about process inefficiency and waste of money...
  • Got a call back from Seagate and they found the firmware. They sent me a direct file and not a link so I can't give it out to anyone (and you shouldn't want something from someone you don't know any).

BUT, here is my Seagate case# 03878166. If you need the firmware, call Seagate and reference that ticket, it should have the information they need to find the firmware internally.
  • Hi,

Just wondering if you know where I can download Seagate ST2000DL003 CC3D firmware? I have called seagate and they have no idea even using your case #.

    Thanks,
    K.

Seagate never made it generally available, and the download links they did provide to specific customers were temporary. Probably the best you can do is nag seagate, and see if they can escalate you to someone higher up who might know.
  • hi K3nnis

any chance you can send me a copy of this firmware?

Segate basically told be to go away they are not interested as my HDDs are outside of warranty
then they started saying they can not get the FW as it has been deleted from their system
