cannot register or access admin page of new RN214

Hi,

I bought a new RN214 a week ago an amazon(Germany)  Now I tried to register the product to get free support, but I cannot register the product, I just get error messages repeatedly.

Initially I wanted to register in order to qualify for the complimentary support, because I have some issues with the device.

Upon accessing the admin page of the device earlier today I was notified there was a new firmware version (6.1.0) so I agreed to install the new firmware which seemed to work fine. But after installing the new firmware I cannot access the device admin page anymore.

The device seems to be working fine, since I can access it without any problems vie ReadyCLOUD.

I guess something went wrong with the firmware update and above all why can't I register the product?

Any help appreciated,

  • I'm not sure if I have got the firmware version right (6.1.0) It's probably 6.10.0 but it is certainly the latest version available

      Have you tried doing an OS reinstall from the boot menu?  Instructions are on pages 58-59 here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/READYNAS-100/ReadyNAS_%20OS6_Desktop_HM_EN.pdf

       

      The OS reinstall won't affect your data.  It will 

      • reset your network connection to use DHCP with no bonding
      • reset the admin password to password
      • turn off volume quota (on the volume settings wheel).

      So you would need to revisit those settings (particularly the password) when you regain access to the web ui.

       

      A Netgear mod ( like JohnCM_S or Marc_V ) can probably help with your registration problem.  Try sending them a PM (private message) using the envelope icon on the top right of the forum page.  Include the serial number and the email address you used to create the my.netgear.com account.

        Thanks for the reply,

         

        I just reinstalled the OS (you're right it is 6.10.1) but this did not help. Still not able to connect to the admin page.

        Any other ideas?
