Chipset in the ReadyNAS Ultra 4+
Hi, what chipset does the ReadyNAS Ultra 4+ have in it? I want to see how much memory and type I can add to it
First - Netgear does not support an increase in memory.
Second - Unless you are running memory intensive add on applications, an increase in memory is unlikely to provide any significant increase in the file transfer speed. The file transfer speed is already bumping up against the max throughput for a gigabit network.
Third - if you increase the memory and the memory causes a data problem, Netgear tech support may refuse support since the memory is not supported.
With all that, the best way to find out the memory it will take, is to take the current module out and match it. By reading the label on the stock module you will know the speed and CL rating of the stock memory. When you put the new memory in, be sure to run the memory check on the boot menu several times. Each time you run it, it will run through 8 tests and it will take several hours for each pass.
