Just trying to set up my new readynas RND2000. First up, sincere apologies - this is my first ever NAS. Two questions: 1) I am waiting for my free drive from Netgear to arrive, so in the meantim...

Hi,
First of all, sorry if I'm bringing up an old thread back up but it's closely related to my problem and I couldn't find any answers in other threads.
So here's my set-up:
ReadyNas DUO with a 2TB disk in slot1. I have been using this set-up for a while now and it's all working well!
But now I want to add another disk (1TB) in slot2; this disk was used as an external disk on a macbook and already has some files on it.
When I put it in slot2, it recognizes it but I can't use the drive.
Now I know I probably need to format it but I don't know how (and in which format)... If I do a factory reset of my ReadyNas Duo, will I lose the data that I have on my 2TB disk in slot1?
Also, I want to use the 2nd disk purely to augment the capacity of my readynas duo; not for back-up using RAID.
Thank you in advance for your help!
EDIT: I found someone another post that is more closely related to my problem; http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=56158
