The Pro 6 (RNDP6000-200) has a much faster CPU than the Ultra 6 (RNDU6000), business features and 5 year warranty. The CPU in the Pro 6 is great for transcoding. The Pro 6 can even handle transcoding 1080p content to play on the iPad so I would expect it should work fine with pretty much anything you throw at it.
Whilst you will need to buy new disks you could use the NV+ as a backup NAS.
Using Frontview backup it took me a few days to transfer 3.7TB of data, first via NFS (full backup) then changed backup properties to use Rsync (incremental and verification).
