Data inaccessible - kernel BUG at fs/inode.c:556!
Hello,
I am having an issue with my data volume being inactive. I recently updated the firmware from 6.9.5 to 6.10.2. After the update, I found the data volume as inactive. A log error of "kernel BUG at fs/inode.c:556!" is shown in raidar. A little search showed to root volume as full. Somehow, very recently, the PLEX server added thousands of snippits of video to the root (which it has done in the past). I deleted them but I am still left with this log error and unable to access the data volume. I have tried redownloading and reinstalling the firmware, but this has not worked and my skills are limited enough I don't want dig further without some guidance.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Richard

Hi weddlerr2,
Welcome to the Community!
You may download the NAS system logs then provide it to us so we can check what caused the volume to become inactive. You may send the logs by uploading it to a file-sharing site then send the download link via PM (private message).

I PM'd you a link to the logs.
Thanks!

Hopefully he will respond soon. Likely responses:
- contact paid support for help mounting your volume
- do a factory default, rebuild the NAS, and restore files from backup.
One approach is to just do the factory default. You might end up having to do that in the end anyway.

Thankyou for the information StephenB. I appreciate your help. I have contacted Netgear and am more than willing to pay for support, but appartently they have a policy not to offer paid support to second hand equipment. This particular server was purchased used and registered under the previous owner. I guess I could move the drives to the previous server, but that as a RNDPU6000 running OS6. So service there is also unlikey. I can do a factory default, but prefer not to since my last backup was several months ago, but reluctantly, it is a option. Also, the original error is no longer showing in the diagnostics, and it looks like it was something to do with the unused bluetooth module. The server data folder is still inaccesible since the overflow of the system folder. The original problem remains... A little update for @JohnCM_S
