Discovering your ReadyNAS without RAIDar
RAIDar is the discovery agent program used to setup/detect your ReadyNAS in the Windows/Mac environment. In the absense of the RAIDar software, or using any UNIX OS including LINUX, you can use the following instructions to configure the ReadyNAS.
1. Open a terminal session and run:
# nmblookup -R VOLUME
If you have specified a different workgroup, you can replace VOLUME with that workgroup name.
2. Use the IP address that's returned and specify the address in a web browser, appended with "/admin". For instance, if the returned address is 192.168.7.100, use the following address:
http://192.168.7.100/admin or
https://192.168.7.100/admin
You'll get a login prompt. The default login and password is "admin" and "infrant1". Download the Quick Installation guide from our support site and just follow through (skipping the RAIDar part).
As of RAIDiator 4.0, the default password is "netgear1".
Hope that helps.

- alexan071AspirantI just reset my NV 1000 to the factory default but it still has version 3.00c1 of the RAIDiator software. What is the default password for that?
- objectiveAspirantHi Jedi Knight
Is there a way of by-passing the usual GUI for the ReadyNAS Duo - I'm finding setting up backups incredibly slow and hitting right issues with some share volumes.
A terminal session into the Duo ?

I think if you enable SSH access you might be able to do this somehow but NetGear may refuse software support if what you do using this causes problems. - ItaniumAspirantDear friends, i have installed readynas duo v2 but default password don't work user: admin password: netgear1 i have arm 5.3.2 i have set default, reinstall os, etc.. but i don't have access to web settings. What can i do? I never set password!! I have only one disk in my nas.. I have to install another and retry?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredItanium, the default password is different for the new devices. See http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/what_is_the_frontview_default_login_and_password_after_a_factory_default
Where did you see the suggestion to enter the password 'netgear1'? One would think the new devices should have come with a new Installation guide referring to the new default password.
Please in future do not revive a long dead thread. Open a new thread referring to the old thread if you think you must.
Welcome to the forum! - ItaniumAspirantThank's default password for readynas duo v2 is password bye
