Drive replacement question for NVX
Hi there,
My NVX is logging the disk drive in position 1 with far to many smart errors for my liking so I intend to replace the drive, a 3.5" 1TB Seagate ST31000340NS, with a 3.5" 3TB Western Digital WD30EFRX.
The NVX is using a the RAID Level X-RAID2 setup, on all 4 disks.
I believe, and here is my question, that I should be able to simply swap out the drive and replace it without any data loss?
The NVX web interface says I am using 2030 GB (73%) of 2759 GB used.
Thanks in advance for any help and guidance!

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredSo you have 4x1TB disks installed?
What version of RAIDiator are you running? You need to make sure that you are running RAIDiator 4.2.16 or later before adding a 3TB disk.
Note also that two 3TB disks will need to be installed before expansion can take place as X-RAID2 provides redundancy. If any one disk fails, data remains intact.
After the resync completes from adding the first 3TB disk you could then add a second one. - yellowdog22Aspirant

RAIDiator 4.2.22
So the correct proceedure would be.
1. Power down NAS.
2. Replace failing drive in Bay 1 with new 3tb disk.
3. Boot and run resync
4. Repeat 1-3 with 2nd 3tb disk.
q: Does it matter which bay/disk I replace for the second new 3tb disk?
Cheers! - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredBest to replace the disk while the NAS is on.
As for the second disk to replace, it doesn't matter which disk unless another disk is failing.
