@Fishbones - I have not yet contacted Netgear on the issue. I have had the machine down for some time as a result of a move and although noticed the switch indicating 100Mb prior to the move for that port, had not investigated thinking it was a problem lying elsewhere. Now that I have two RDNP side by side I can see that the problem is indeed the RDNP. I will be contacting Netgear on the issue shortly.
As for refurbished I do share your same concerns. I feel it rather "lame" for a company to replace a product that is defective with one that is not new. If the RMA was due to some fault on the customer end, a refurbished unit would align more with expectations. It seems almost a punishment for having done nothing wrong to receive a refurbished item when the reason for the replacement is on the companies end. If I want refurbished, I buy refurbished, if I want new, I buy new. It seems only fair for the customer to have control over that.
All that being said, I understand the financial reasons for companies handling things this way. Profits are desirable.
