Firmware update error
ReadyNAS 214, OS 6.10.10.
When I tried to check for firmware updates today, I got an error-message:
60010010060 Communication error.
I can access the NAS without any problem and also access internet. Nothing has been changed in the setup of my NAS or router. Saw that a similar problem was occurring in 2022.

I'm seeing this also.
You have the current release - you can check that here:
and by searching for 6.10.11 on kb.netgear.com
I have had exactly the same issue. I am running OS6 v6.10.10 (latest ver) on a ReadyNAS Ultra 4+.
When I click "check for updates" I expect to see a message telling me that I am on the latest version already.
Instead, I am getting the error message, and saying that my internet connection is faulty, or my DNS or proxy settings need fixing. This is not correct, and the response from Netgear support does not address it. I know I am on the latest version, but I expect the system to confirm it, rather than falling over.

If you are talking about my post:
This is user-to-user forum, and I do not work for Netgear nor speak for them. If you visit this forum frequently, you'll see that Netgear almost never responds to users here.
As far as ReadyNAS support (and expectations generally) goes:
Netgear has exited the ReadyNAS business. The newest chassis was introduced back in 2017, and all ReadyNAS platforms are identified as "end of life" on the Netgear support pages. Netgear stopped offering support contracts on these units some time ago. There still have been a few software updates, but not much content in them.
It's possible that this is just a temporary issue with their update server. It's also possible that they've taken that server down. My guess is that it is temporary. I do have someone I can ask, so I will do that.
Hi StephenB
Many thanks for your fast response, and a big apology for forgetting that this is Netgear community not Netgear support. It will be good if the firmware update check error is just temporary as you say, even if there will be no more firmware updates ever again, and the Netgear server will revert back to providing the comforting message that v6.10.10 is the latest (final) release.... Thank goodness for the Netgear community.
This problem has returned again.
The error message has been showing for at least the past week.
Any chance someone can check the Netgear server that handles this messaging, to get it to revert to the default message "Your device is already on the latest version of firmware. ie. OS 6.10.10"
Many thanks

I've reported it, hopefully we will get a response.
Many thanks for your quick reply. I will await further updates.
