Help! I can't browse the webpage of my ReadyNAS Duo V2

Hi all.

Hoping someone may be able to help me please?

I'm trying to browse the Admin/Device Page of my Duo V2, but am getting the following error:

This site can’t provide a secure connection

192.168.0.153 uses an unsupported protocol.

ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH

RAIDar recognises the device's status as "Healthy" running Firmware 5.3.7, and I can browse the content of the RAID through File Manager, so I'm unsure what the problem is.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro, Version 22H2, OS build 19045.3086
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19041.1000.0

Sorry, I'm not a techie, so please be gentle with me 🙂.  All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Reads like an overly smart Web browser does try to establish a https connection - what is not available on these legacy ReadyNAS

Eg. in Chrome, head to  Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Security and locate the toggle to disable

The problem is that the NAS doesn't support TLS 1.2, which all browsers now require by default.  The NAS will redirect http://nas-ip-address/admin to https, so schumaku's suggestion will not work.

You can regain access with Firefox, by first enabling TLS 1.0 connections in the security settings.  Enter about:config in the browser window.  Then search for security.tls.version.min, and temporarily set it to 1.

That will allow you to log in.  Then download and manually install this add-on:

That will add TLS 1.2 support to the NAS, so you will be able to use Chrome (or any browser that doesn't let you use TLS 1.0).

My bad, sorry. I had the ReadyNAS OS 6 systems in mind which certainly don't have this ***** http tp https redirect.

      Hi Stephen,

      Thanks for your suggestion.

I've only been able to get so far with the Firefox aspect, as I'm now trying to sign in but unfortunately, it doesn't appear that the login credentials I think I used initial are correct.

You don't happen to know if there's a way to force a reset on the Username and Password (without doing a full factory reset which, I think, wants to wipe the drives) do you?

      Thanks in advance.

      Ashley.

The username has to be "admin". The default password for the account with the Duo v2 is "password"

An OS reinstall will reset the password back to the default.  It will also reset the NAS to use DHCP (likely it is already).  Instructions are on pages 16-17 of the hardware manual here:

The OS reinstall will not harm your data.  The factory default will, so be careful not to do that by mistake.

BTW, 5.3.7 firmware is rather old.  After you regain access, you should update it to 5.3.13 (The final firmware for your NAS).
