Netgear's spec says the "typical" noise level is 25 dba @ 1 meter. You will be able to hear it, though it is not too loud. The disks make some of this noise - and the WD 3 TB reds you are considering are very quiet (much better than average). BTW when the unit powers up the fans come on a full speed for a bit, and that is easily heard.
You can probably jury-rig a sound baffle if you found it was objectionable, as long as you keep reasonable airspace around the unit.
