Help please :)
Hello all,
just want to know what readynas unit i will need for my requirements.
My gear that I already have:
Netgear wnr2200 wireless router - http://www.netgear.com.au/home/products/wirelessrouters/work-and-play/WNR2200.aspx
2 x xbox360's
2 x laptops
2 x iphones
I am aware i may need to upgrade my router. Also one xbox is ethernet connected to the router other is wireless.
What I want to do, is stream all my media to all of these devices. which readynas product is best for me? I have a budget of about 275.00aud for a diskless unit.
Hope you guys can help me, also I live in Brisbane Australia.
Cheers Ryan

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredJust stream or do you need to transcode too? Is the video already in the correct format to play on your iPhones?
- rjdk2010Aspiranti dont know what transcode is??? Most of the files are avi but some are mp4.
Also I want to ba able to access all of the nas videos without a computer being turned on
Cheers Ryan - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredTranscoding is converting videos on the fly into a format that will play on your iPhone.
The cheapest ReadyNAS I'd recommend for your requirements would be the RNDU2000, a little over your budget but worth it. However, if you need to transcode high quality videos you'd want a NAS with a more powerful CPU. - rjdk2010AspirantOk, yer a little over my budget, would this be a good unit though?

Cheers Ryan - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWith the RND2000 if the video isn't exactly in the correct format to play on your devices you won't be able to play it on your iPhones. The RNDU2000 would enable a greater range of media to be playable on your iPhones.
- rjdk2010Aspirantand i shouldn't have any problems using it with an xbox 360?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI don't have an xbox 360 so I'm not sure. You'd stream to it via DLNA I think. Again having a faster CPU could be of benefit.
- rjdk2010Aspirantawesome thanks for your help, anyone else have something to add?
Cheers Ryan
