I really did not deserve this.
Started my nas journey with an Ultra6. Great Box and never had 1 issue since purchasing it. Its still going strong.
Thought I'd upgrade to a Pro6 but the experience has nearly killed me.
First box purchased. [case# 17129469] ended with an RMA and a replacement box.
Second box. [case# 17158635] which went to [case# 17176170] which went to [case#17213486] which went to [case#17233782] can anyone see a pattern here.
After several weeks of frustration the nas is working fine, however I cannot give the nas a hostname. It just comes back with "unsuccessful setting host name" which is somewhat tiresome.
To save me another case # does anyone have a solution I can implement?
Support is just killing me.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredCould you try an OS Re-install?: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu
Then clear your web browser cache (e.g. Temporary Internet Files), close your web browser and reopen Frontview and try changing the hostname again. - naspro6AspirantHi mdgm,
I have done 2 OS Re-installs. And just tried the cache clean. No joy. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat version of RAIDiator are you running?
What services do you have enabled? - naspro6AspirantHi mdgm,
Thanks for the interest.
RAIDiator is 4.20-T15 - naspro6AspirantServices are cifs and afp
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredSo you only have these enabled? Not anything else (don't forget stuff like iSCSI and add-ons, and discovery services like Bonjour)?
- naspro6Aspirantsorry add hhtp and https
streaming readydlna and itunes
discovery bonjour upnp
But I turned most of these on after the issue. I have not been able to set a hostname from the getgo.
Now I am thinking I better dig deeper and get it looked at or fix it myself. Just have no idea how to do it. - naspro6Aspirantaddons are

ReadyNAS Remote - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI would still try disabling every service you can temporarily, rebooting the NAS then attempting to change hostname. If that works, then re-enable the services.
Perhaps one of the community add-ons is causing the problem.
I would think trying another support case could be the way to go here. Though as you're running a beta they may not be able help. - naspro6AspirantThanks mdgm,
I think I'll have to raise another case #, which should be approaching a record.
The beta, as I am aware, was installed by an L3 support engineer, not me :-)
Lets hope they can sort it out.
Cheers
