Infrant ReadyNAS NV+ - intermittent network issue

Hello all:

I'm still running my Infrant ReadyNAS NV+ (2005?) but I'm afraid its on its last legs. We've been through a lot together but now I am seeing an issue with the network connection dropping intermittently. If I run a ping -t, it will drop the connection intermittently. Its enough to break connectivity during a file transfer and I can not log in to the portal to review the logs. RAIDiator gets disconnected and I have to reconnect every minute or so.

I updated the firmware recently (after Jan '14) but I'm pretty sure a new version had come out and I decided to skip it. If I can ever get into the portal on the NAS I will post the details of the firmware version. My data is backed up except for the movies, but most of them I have on DvD so no loss of data - actually the data is fine - getting to it another story (USB to PC?)

Since there isn't much to go on from a support perspective assuming the hardware is failing, I guess I had a couple of questions:

Is there a way to add a network adapter to this unit via USB?
I can't get to the portal but does this NAS have built in wireless? I have always had it hardwired.
Is there a "Classifieds" ad on this forum for dead NAS units that I could possibly buy parts from?

I hate the thought that I have to trash a perfectly good NAS unit because the NIC has seen its last days. I guess I could always attach it via USB to a PC to get the data off or attach it to my router via USB.

Any response would be appreciated.

Do you know for sure that it is the NIC?

A full OS partition has similar symptoms. You might try an OS reinstall.
