Jun 06, 2016Is Seagate 8TB NAS HDD SATA 6Gb/s NCQ 256 MB Cache Bare Drive ST8000VN0002 compatible?
ReadyNAS 316, OS 6.5.0
I have seen the post talking about the Western Digital new 8TB Red HDD but I just noticed Amazon has the Seagate 8TB NAS HDD SATA 6Gb/s NCQ 256 MB Cache Bare Drive ST8000VN0002. Is it compatible and does anyone think it will work well with the ReadyNAS 316?

The ST6000VN0001 is on the HCL, so I think there's good reason to think the 8 TB model will work as well.
The larger drives sometimes have non-standard mounting, so you might google for that. The WD 8 TB shifted the screw hole positions on the bottom, but not on the side - so there was no issue. My guess is that Seagate did that too, but its probably worth checking.
Netgear might deny support of course. But I suspect they will add the 8 TB models shortly.

Hi DJDOC,
Our ReadyNAS units will accept any standard SATA HDD but using the ones that are not listed in our HCL comes with a risk. Anyway, a positive feedback is found on this thread and you should be able to install this HDD on your system.
Kind regards,
