Maximum ReadyNAS Duo v2 hard disk capacity

With a non-functioning ReadyNAS Hard Disk Compatibility List, incomplete documentation downloads, threads being closed for follow-up questions to promote duplicate posting, and a maze of dead pages scattered on different Netgear/ReadyNas websites, I would like to ask for a confirmation this way.

I have a ReadyNas Duo v2 with 2x2TB hard disks in X-RAID2 (redundant) setup and the latest firmware (RAIDiator 5.3.11). I would like to expend the disk capacity, but the official specs for the device are nowhere to be found anymore to determine what size is actually supported. The mentioned thread talks about 4TB, but as far as I recall it has been 2x3TB in the past. Has the limit changed with a later version of the firmware compared to the initial release?

Can the device handle 2x3TB maximum or is 2x4TB possible for X-RAID2 (redundant) as well?

  • It does support 4 TB disks.  The only one on the hardware compatibility list is the WD40EFRX.  Others would likely work, but the WD40EFRX is an excellent choice.
