Mirrored 2 drive RAID PLUS other volumes?
Hi, I'm considering purchasing a ReadyNAS NV+ 4 bay diskless unit, and two 2TB drives to install as a mirrored RAID to use for my media files (music, videos, photos, etc.). Let's say I have two 2TB drives in the ReadyNAS as a Mirror RAID 1. If I add a third 2TB drive to bay three (and let's say even a fourth drive later on), can I treat that as a totally separate drive (mounting as a separate volume), or does it automatically treat the new third drive as a third in the mirror RAID (as in how X-RAID just adds it as more capacity)? Thanks!

- the default x-raid mode is a single volume that automatically expands when you add disks
to do what you suggest you would have to configure the device for flex-raid mode and manually setup the volumes as you prefer.
Note however, flex-raid mode on the nv+ is not expandable, and the older sparc device is limited to 2tb drives max, while the newer ARM based can support 3tb+ drives. - PapaBear1ApprenticeNot to mention that the discontinued NV+ (v1), noted by the silver colored case, is just about gone from the retail chain.
