NAS recommendation
I need to replace my old Readynas NV+. I don’t really want to, but it no longer supports my Sonos music library due to its SMB 1 rating. I found a used Netgear RND214 on eBay for a good price sans drives.
does anyone have a recommendation for the 214? Are these still being supported? What would be a better alternative?
thanks

look at building your own. You might have some decent supplies or be able to find pretty cheap older computers to install something like TrueNas to. Or one of the variety of NAS free software programs.I did that after my RN104 and haven't looked back.

The RN214 should work. But all ReadyNAS are end of life. AsusStor, QNAP, Synology are all possible NAS alternatives. (Just starting points - I don't own these NAS).
However, the simplest solution for Sonos is to copy your music to a PC share. That does require that the PC be turned on when streaming your music. There are quite a few options for small form factor PCs (1 liter) that are suitable if you need a dedicated always-on platform. You don't need to build a full NAS - ordinary Windows is enough to do what you need.
Then use your NV+ only for backup.
