need help to reset Password
hi
i need to reinstall firmware onto my readynas 4475.
i don't known how to do it & was hoping for some guidance.
where do i get firmware from & how do i go about loading it.
is raidar the firmware or is it just software to access nas with.
can it be done via the raidar interface?
is raidar 4.3.5 the correct version?
any help much appreciated
I am thinking you have this product: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RNR4475.aspx?cid=wmt_netgear_organic That would be an ReadyNAS 1100 with 4 750 GB disks.

RAIDar is just software to access the NAS with. The firmware is called RAIDiator (and the current version for the 1100 is 4.1.15).
What you need to do is an "OS reinstall". That will reset your password to the factory default (either to netgear1 or infrant1 - not sure with your model). It will also reset the network interface to use DHCP. The procedure for that is here: http://kb.netgear.com/24873/How-do-I-access-the-boot-menu-on-my-ReadyNAS-1100?cid=wmt_netgear_organic Be careful not to do a factory default by mistake, that will wipe your data.
RAIDar could help you find the IP address that is assigned to the NAS. The current versions are here: http://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads?cid=wmt_netgear_organic#raidar
Either RAIDar 6.2 or 4.3.8 can discover your NAS. There are a couple of functions where you'd need 4.3.8 (particularly setting up flexraid mode after a factory reset) - but generally either version should work for you.
