Netgear nvx pioneer edition

Hey everyone. I'm looking for some guidance. I tried the os6 with mod guide and now the unit is stuck at booting.... any attempt to do anything from boot menu results going right back to booting. I tried doing to the usb recovery tool for 4.2.31 raidiator but I keep getting an error launching the program. The side by side configuration is incorrect, I tried every c++ Uninstall reinstall I could find. Even tried on a win 7 system with same result. Win 7 10 11 same error. I was curious if others get this error. If they don't could you possibly make me a image of the recovery I can burn onto a USB? Program is raidiator 4.2 usb recovery off netgears page. The last version of the firmware is 4.2.31 x86. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

At least we should have learnt in the meantime the updating the NVX to OS6 isn't possible. The NVX (both BE and Pioneer versions) unlike the other desktop models with Intel CPUs deploy a 32-bit CPU. ReadyNAS OS 6 is a 64-bit OS and uses a 64-bit kernel. There is no support for the NVX, 1500 or 2100v1 which use 32-bit CPUs.

Anyone who gives you a copy of the image in their NVX is also giving you their vpd file, which includes their serial number.  Since those units are long past Netgear support, maybe they won't care.  I'm not sure how you intend to install the image if the unit is bricked, however.  If you can still get into recovery mode, then make a copy of your vpd using the instructions here:  Backup-and-restore-of-VPD-file-for-legacy-ReadyNAS-running-oS6 .

Most have had success in recovery from trying to convert an NVX to OS6 using the USB recovery tool.  Make sure you are using the one for 4.2.x, not 6.x.  Why are you trying to re-install c++?  What, exactly, are you seeing when you attempt to run the tool?  Have you tried running it as administrator (some have found that to be necessary)?  You also must already have a USB drive inserted when you run it (though it should tell you that and then let you exit).

One might guess because of the recovery image does error-out before the 4.2 image is required?

Are you talking about usbrecovery.exe?  Or something else?

Yes, downloaded as "RAIDiator 4.2 USB Flash Recovery.zip".
