New user and first usage
Hi there, im new to this and somewhat confused.
Im looking for a solution where i can keep all pictures, movie and documents in one place, but access them from phone, Ipad and TV. but also use as a personal cloud storage.
But... im looking for a stand alone system, what i would like is the ability to run Plex from the NAS, is this possible. i dont want to be leaving my laptop permanantly connected.
Our router is in the spare room so i can easily connect the NAS to this, and my laptop. but im not sure which system to use. i have found this model on Amazon and want to know if its the rght one for me.

An RN214 is a good choice for what you have in mind. It will run plex (and can do some on-the-fly video transcoding.
You can access files remotely through ReadyCloud (though I use openVPN for that myself - it will reach my laptop, android phone, and ipad).
You should also make sure you put a backup strategy in place- RAID is not enough to keep your data safe. You can use USB drives for backing up your data.
