NV+ or Ultra

I know some people have had problems streaming to the various Squeezebox devices from an NV+, but I don't think a blanket claim can be made that it's an inherent problem with the ReadyNAS NV+. Personally, I've been using an NV+ for four years and streaming wirelessly to several SB devices simultaneously with no problems. I started with two Squeezebox Duets, then eventually added a Boom, two Radios and two Touches. I routinely (almost every day) run two or three of these devices in sync (i.e. playing the same music simultaneously), and have often had four or more going at the same time. The NV+ can also run different streams (different music to different devices).

My music library is of medium size, around 15,000 tracks. I'm currently running Logitech Media Center 7.7.1, but it worked just fine back when it was Squeezebox Server and earlier releases. My NV+ is running with the factory-installed, standard 256MB of memory. I started with two 500GB drives; after four years and two expansions, it's now running with four 500GB drives. By late this year I expect it will be getting full again, so I will probably install four 1TB drives. (I might decide to upgrade to one of the newer machines from the x86 line.) But my point is that it's inaccurate to simply say the NV+ is "too slow" to run Logitech Media Server and stream to Squeezebox devices, of any model. I do it wirelessly, so I'm sure it would work at least as well wired.
