NV+ Power Issue
About 3 or 4 days ago, I noticed I wasn't able to get access to my ReadyNAS. A little confused, but when I got home to check, I saw the unit was powered down. Strange, I thought, especially considering I didn't receive any alerts and the unit is plugged into a UPS.
In any case, I powered up the unit, and headed back to work, only to find that the device was still inaccessible. When I got home, the LCD screen said something to the effect of "Checking FS ... 3%". But, the blue power indicator was not lit, nor were any fans blowing or disks spinning.
I pulled the power and tried to reboot again. Same situation. The FS check got to 11%, but eventually the unit seemed to die. Ultimately, the unit stopped the boot process altogether. The power button would flicker when pushed, but the unit wouldn't even attempt to power up. Oddly, this behavior would only work when it was "freshly" plugged in. Pushing the power button subsequently wouldn't do a thing.
In any case, I seek the Jedi's thoughts on what could be wrong with the unit. I assume its a power issue, but could it be more? In any case, I'm resigned to believing my beloved NAS has finally died. I've had this baby for at least 4 or 5 years, so it's served me well. The question here is--what next?
I saw another post here: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=57201, that had a similar issue, so apologies for the "repost."
I have a slightly different question, however.
1. Can the unit be salvaged (particularly in a cost efficient manner?)
2. More importantly, can I save the data?
2a. Per the post above, I assume if I get a similar NV+ unit, I probably can move the disk array over and it should boot just fine, is that accurate?
2b. I'd like to consider moving to another ReadyNAS platform (such as the Pro), because I use a fair number of add-ons and would like the CPU boost. Would that be possible while preserving my data?
I guess the biggest difference is 2b--if I get a replacement unit, I think I'd like to look at something a bit zippier. What options do I have?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retired1. If purchased on/after Aug 21, 2007 the NAS unit would still be under warranty.
If your serial number is in this range depending what region you are in you may qualify for a free PSU replacement: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10259
2. If disks are fine then data should be able to be retrieved.
2a If disks are fine then moving the disks to another NV+ would work fine. See http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_migrate_disks_over_from_an_existing_readynas_to_another
2b You can't migrate disks from a Sparc ReadyNAS (e.g. NV+) to a x86 ReadyNAS (e.g. NVX, Ultra, Pro).
