NV+ Power Supply Failure

Apparent power supply failure in my Readynas NV+. System appears to power up then becomes unresponsive even to power button on front of machine. Smell coming from machine. Part#/Model#: RNV2-S4-R450. Serial No. (MAC) shows: 000DA2014E4. Phoned Tech and they said that this serial number is in a lot of known bad power supplies.
Questions:
-Is a power supply replacement available?
-If I cannot get a power supply, can I buy another NV+ and install my drives to recover the files?
-Is there any risk in loosing data if I pull my disks and put them in another NV+?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

  • " Answers of your question:
    1) Power supply replacement is available but it depends on your hardware.
    2) Yes, you can buy a new NV+ and install your drives to recover the files.
    3) You should keep a backup of files, if you are worried about data loss. And then you can replace your disks.

  • 2013 and my NV+ went poof. Opened a support ticket. back and forth. Searched the web. Found this thread. Linked to it in the support exchange.
November 4, 2013 they called me. Over the phone they confirmed that mine was in the range of recalled devices and they're sending me a replacement power supply.
Really looking forward to getting my NAS back up.
    Woot!
