NV+ PSU failure case #17627270
Hello, and happy new year
I'm an happy french NV+ user since 2007, and recently my NV+ (no more under waranty) started to have problems :
2 week ago, the HDD n°2 (on 4) started to indicate some bad blocks.
1 week ago, the smart test failed on the same drive, wich is under the seagate 5 years waranty, so i removed it to send it to seagate for repair.
Yesterday, the NV+ failed to boot : no LCD and no LED (only the power LED who flash briefly after powering on the first time after pluging in).
My serial n° 000DA2012BC3 seems to be into the "bad psu" serie, I opened an online support ticket this morning, but i'd like to know if there is something else i can do.
Thanks in advance.

- PapaBear1ApprenticeDo you detect any burned smell when at the back of the unit?
- gmargaroAspirantI don't remember, i'll check that tonight when i'm back home.
Edit : no, there is no burning smell. - PapaBear1ApprenticeWhen you returned the failed drive in bay 2 to Seagate for replacement, did you replace it with a new/spare drive?
The fact that you have lights on the unit indicate that the PSU has not failed completely. The lack of a functional LED display is troubling.
Have you heard anything from your online request? - gmargaroAspirantI didn't returned the drive yet, and i think i'll wait till the readynas is repaired. I have no spare drive, and the price of drives these days doesn't do well with my bank...
I had the first response from the support, who telles me to go in os reinstall mode, which obviously doesn't work. - PapaBear1ApprenticeObviously you cannot do an normal OS Reinstall if the unit won't boot.
Is the fan running?
Do you have any kind of spare 3 1/2" SATA drive laying around that does not have needed data on it? - gmargaroAspirantThe fan isn't running, and i haven't got any spare drive.
- PapaBear1ApprenticeHave you had any response yet from Tech Support on your case number?
- gmargaroAspirantNo, not since i told them that the os reinstall doesn't work.
- PapaBear1ApprenticeYou need to follow up with them and let them know the unit will not boot. Ask for an escalation to the next level.
- gmargaroAspirantOK, they asked for a copy of the invoice to start a replacement order. Hope is here.
