Can you try a direct-connection and see if you still get the issue?: http://sphardy.com/web/directconnect
Please use a Cat5e or newer ethernet cable when doing the direct-connect.
If it still drops off doing the direct-connect then check to see if the NIC drivers in your PC are up to date.
A 100Mbps network is slow. You might wish to purchase a gigabit router/switch and connect the NAS to your network via that. You could also connect devices with gigabit ethernet to the gigabit router/switch to get gigabit speeds between those and the NAS.
