Your NAS is an old model, and unfortunately doesn't support drives larger than 2 TB. So you can use a WD20EFRX, but not the WD40EFRX.

Unfortunately, it looks like you looked at the compatibility list for a RN2120 (a newer 4-bay rack mount system) and not an RND2120, which is not specifically listed in the compatibility list but is, as you have indicated in your model number, a ReadyNAS Duo (though V1, not V2). RND2120 means it is an RND2000 (Duo V1) shipped with with one 2TB drive. As StephenB has already stated, the largest drive the DuoV1 can use is 2TB. The drive list for that unit, and all the legacy units, is woefully out of date. It is best to stear clear of the "green" drives, and ones specifically marketed for NAS or Enterprise are best.
