So, given the fact that the ReadyNAS 516 does not have the option of redundant power supplies, I was wondering if it's possible to purchase a spare PS unit to have around. Since I don't live in the US...

I don't see why not; the 516 undoubtedly uses a standard off-the-shelf PC power supply labeled with its manufacturer and model number.
