Reading files in my ReadyNAS using my android device
Hello,
I am new to networking and I would like to know how to proceed with the set-up so I can view my files in my ReadyNAS Duo V2 using my Android device.
I've used my Duo V2 for some years in my home accessing it through wifi from all the laptops and pc's around the house without any problem. In a previous post it was suggested to me to enable ReadyDLNA (which I did) and install the app Solid File Explorer on my phone. From there, I don't know how to proceed with the set-up and how to see my NAS. I would like to access my NAS when I'm at home, and ideally also when I'm away from home.
Thank you.

Solid Explorer should let you access the NAS - there is a (perhaps dated) guide here: https://www.guidingtech.com/smb-server-solid-explorer-android/
I can't give much advice, as I switched to an iPhone in December, and have no Android devices right.
Away from home is more tricky. The best way is to get a router that supports OpenVPN, and use that to access your home network when you are away. Orbi and Nighthawk routers both include openVPN.

Thank you StephenB for your quick answer.
I am following the Solid Explorer guide and everything is fine until the end.... I see the IP of the NAS, I enter the user name and password to access it, but when I click connect I receive a message that there is a communication problem with the network. I enabled ReadyDLNA on the NAS, any other settings I should look into?

I use Total Commander with the LAN plug-in. While my NAS is an OS6 one, so supports SMB2 and SMB3, it appears to have settings that allow access to older devices.
