ReadyNAS 214 Read Only

Dear Netgear,

Since yesterday morning my ReadyNAS 214 says all the files and documents are read-only.

I have started a disk check and it doesn't come up with any errors.

Also it shows all the disks as online.

In the logfile i found the message : the volume DATA found a problem, everything is now set to read-only.

Can you tell me how to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Jeffrey

You can try contacting NETGEAR support and see if they can still do some corrective changes via backend access. Otherwise, it will be best for you to backup your data, then restore the NAS from factory default.

  • ReadyNAS firmware is 6.10.2 and i have 4 Western Digital 4TB disk installed.

I've tried rebooting via webinterface, turning off and on but nothing has helped so far..

    Hi JayV_84,

    Welcome to the Community!

The NAS might have detected a file system problem which caused the volume to become read-only. It will be best if you back up your data as soon as possible while you can still access it.

You may download the NAS system logs then provide it to us so we can check the exact cause. You may upload it to a file-sharing site then send to me the download link via PM (private message).

I have just send the link to the log file

It seems Safari was the problem why i couldn't get the logs to download, so i tried Chrome and that worked.

        Thanks in advance!
