ReadyNas 102 - Stuck at booting with Flashing blue Light

Hi,

I need some help with my ReadyNAS 102 (RN10200) as it is struck on Status : System Starting up and not booting at all after firmware update (6.9.2).

Steps carried out:

1. Tried restarting using the button with no success and performed hard restart by unplugging the cable.  Still Flashing blue and no access to admin/shared folders.

2. Did OS reinstall and managed to get it back to life but only for some time and it became unresponsive. (thanks to StephenB for this advise in one of the forms)

3.Restarted agian and back to System Starting up status.

RAIDar keeps loosing the ReadyNas every 10-15mins.

Not really sure how to get it back live without loosing anydata. I have been sitting on this for over a day now, need some break. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Vamcy

      Hi mdgm-ntgr,

Thank you very much for the reply.

Tried doing Volume read only no luck with that too.

Just in case if anyone else is in my situation, its worth checking if both the disks are healthy even though it gave me 2 green ticks on RAIDar.

In my case what I did:

1.Had to pay for the support otherwise I had no idea if it was a drive failure. (would be good to know if there is a way to find out without having to involve paid support, but in my case i took this step)

2.Found out which one of my drive gave up from the helpful support team and have to boot with the good one.

3.Took a backup of the data(do not reformat the drive before you verify the data, to avoid any dissapointment)

4.Got 2 new drives installed with more storage.

      5.Transfer the data from backup.

Hope it comes handy for others

      Cheers

      Vamcy

In 6.9.3 (the latest firmware, released this week) the NAS should hopefully boot into safe mode where you could check the SMART stats to see if there's a bad disk.

I'd recommend updating to that (though hopefully your system won't run into a state where it fails to boot anytime soon).
