ReadyNAS 1100 dropping off network
Hi (first time post) I have two ReadyNAS devices an 1100 running 4.1.6 and a 2100 running 4.2.9 the 1100 is the location that our AV system movies are stored the 2100 is used for business back up ...
So both NASes running very old firmware. Don't update the firmware on the 1100 while it is having problems.
Question 1: A faulty drive can cause all sorts of problems. Normally it's handled gracefully but as disks can and do fail at any time sometimes unfortunately it can cause the NAS to hang. You might wish to power down, remove all disks (label order), connect to SATA port on PC and check them using vendor tools
Question 2: Provided there's not some other hardware problem (e.g. another failing disk), yes.
Question 3: Yes
Question: You could power off the NAS and leave it off till the replacement disk arrives. If you like open a tech support (http://www.readynas.com/support) case.
You cannot migrate a non-redundant array. Do not attempt to migrate your disks to the NV+ while the array is non-redundant.
