ReadyNAS 2100 compatibility with 4TB drives?

Anyone?

I don't see anything in the HCL for 4TB drives working with the 2100. I like the NAS, and don't want to retire it, but I'd like to give it a capacity upgrade.
The WD 4TB SE drive (WD4000F9YZ) is in the HCL for the newer 21xx series units. Is there a limitation in the BIOS or OS that will prevent me from using these or have they just not been formally tested with the older unit?

Currently I have 2x 2TB and 2x 1TB drives, as I replaced failed 1TB with a 2TB in the XRAID.

Provided you are running 4.2.16 or later 4TB drives should work even in 32-bit systems such as the 2100 v1 (4-bay rackmount).

However you may need to backup your data, do a factory reset with the new drives in place then restore data from backup due to an expansion limit.

There are of course support implications for using drives outside the compatibility list. The drives may work, but then they may not.

Brad, did you ever try using the 4TB drives with your 2100? I am looking to also try...
