ReadyNAS 314 16TB Limit?

Hi,

I am currently running an ancient NV+ and finally have some spare money to buy a new NAS, however, I was wondering if there is actually 16TB limit on the 314?

I've checked the compatibility list and I note that the largest it shows is 4TB, however, I was wondering if I can plug in 4x WD60EFRX ? Either today, or if it is planned for a future release to support these larger sizes?

Thanks,
Michael

I just checked the compatibility list for the 314 and I can see the WD60EFRX. Try filtering the list for 6TB drives.

All our x86_64 models running OS6 support volumes > 16TB. There is no 16TB expansion limit on the 314.

In any case for our legacy models running 4.2.x the 16TB limit was for expansion. The Ultra/Pro could still have a volume larger than 16TB if a factory default was done.
  • They are not in compatibility list for 104, is that's because it uses an arm cpu?

    The 314 has a 64-bit Intel CPU and doesn't have a 16TB limit.

However, as seen in the 6.1.9 Release Notes, the 104 does not support volumes greater than 16TB in capacity. Yes, this is because the 104 uses an ARM CPU.

We do not support using drives that are not on the compatibility list however using 6TB drives in the 104 may work, provided you create volume(s) which is(are) less than 16TB in capacity.
