- mlknez1AspirantCan I put OS6 on my Pro Pioneer and if so, where can I find it? What is the storage limit on 6 5TB hard drives under OS4 vs OS6? I have backed up all of my data and can do a factory reset without issue. Physically, can I use 5TB drives on OS4? OS6?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIf you use disks outside our compatibility list support would be unable to help if you run into issues. So do make sure you have an up to date backup.
What RAID level are you using?
There are two expansion limits:
1. You can't expand your volume online by more than 8TB over the life of the volume. So if your volume capacity was 2.7TB when you last did a factory default you cannot expand past 10.7TB
2. You can't expand past 16TB. You have to do a factory default with the disks in place.
So considering the above you will need to
1. Backup your data (you should do this regularly anyway)
2. Power down, remove disks (label order)
3. Put new 5TB disks in
4. Do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything)
5. Restore your data from backup
OS6 on x86 hardware doesn't have the expansion limitations that OS4 has. - mlknez1Aspirant

Which model in particular?
What version of RAIDiator are you running?
This is the drive out of a Seagate 5TB external usb. It is using a model number of ST5000DX000. I am running RAIDiator 4.2.27 - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retired

Unfortunately, as noted by others, the system is so old the drives have been discontinued. I would like to know if I can use the 2TB Western Digital WD2003FZEX which replaced the WD2002FAEX that is on the hardware compatibility list. Thanks so much.
Can you email me your logs (see link in my sig)? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retired

- tijgertGuide(yeah, me too.. waiting for 6.2...)
- evobladeAspirantOk, thanks. I'll pursue that option. As long as the spin-down works I'll be happy.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI would not go with WD Green disks. The Load Cycle Count will increase rapidly.
The WD20EFRX is a better option, but not on the compatibility list for the NV+.
