- map71AspirantI have a ReadyNAS RN316 and I'm thinking of getting the new WD 6TB drives specifically this model 'Western Digital WD60EFRX WD 6TB Red 3.5” IntelliPower SATA3 NAS Hard Drive'. Will they be compatible with my NAS?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredNot possible. However, going to 1x4TB + 3x6TB would be.
- Username_is_in_AspirantHi,
is it possible to use at first step the 314 with 4x 4TB disks and later make a migration to 3x 6TB (without a complete backup and build the system new from scratch)?
I fear it is not possible, right? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThat would be possible, but we haven't yet qualified any 6TB disks.
- Username_is_in_AspirantIm interested to use it with Readynas 314. We use one 314 with three 3TB disks and we want to add a second 314 with much more space. First idea was to use 4x 4TB-disks. but better would be to use 3x 6TB-disk. So its possible to expand later and add one more disk.
Thank you for explain this process.

Rico - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIt's not just a simple matter of adding a few items to a list.
Disks have to be tested in a range of models and if they fail to meet the required standard, then the reason for the failure has to be diagnosed and if it is a software issue be addressed in a firmware update and then the tests have to be run all over again.
So we can't provide an estimate as to when disks might be added to the compatibility list.
What models are you interested in using 5TB and 6TB disks with? - Username_is_in_AspirantHallo,
does anybody know when will be the compatibility list updated for the new RED 5 TB or 6TB Disks of WD?

If ir remember to the 4 TB Red-Disk - it was a long time until this disk was added to the list.

The WD10EFRX or WD20EFRX will work on both the NV+ v1 and the v2. But the 3 TB and 4 TB versions will only run on the NV+ v2 (running 5.3.x firmware).Norge_ wrote: Western Digital 1To Red (WD40EFRX) run with ReadyNas Nv+ - Norge_AspirantWestern Digital 1To Red (WD40EFRX) run with ReadyNas Nv+ V1
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserTo expand your existing xraid2 you need to add 4 TB drives. I don't know why the firmware won't let you add more 2 TB drives (since the 2 TB layer is already created on the WD4001FAEX ) but it doesn't.
