ReadyNAS Duo v1, etherne flashing green fixed amber= no see?
Hi my ReadyNAS Duo v1 has been working for many years really well, that is until this weekend.
It has two 2Tb HDD that are Raided.
I also have a ReadyNAS Duo v2 with one 4Tb HDD, that is also working well.
For some reason I choose to virus check of both the boxes, after which by coincidence the Duo v1 showed signs of being unhappy!!
Presently, I can not see the Duo v1 on the network or via RAIDAR, so unable to manage it any more.
I am unable to Ping the device either and it is not seen on the network map shown on the PC (Windows 7)
The unit Boots up ok as one would expect, with the front lights/leds showing that both HDD are ok.
However the Ethernet port at the rear of the box is showing a flashing green led (as if communicating with the network),
but there is also a fixed amber led showing.
To me this suggesting a networking problem with the Duo v1?
Any advice, repairs, parts ?????
Appreciate your time and help. Regards. Jimbo.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWell, possibly the hardware has failed - in which case the reset won't work. Or perhaps the OS partition got full (if you've been running it for many years, and never deleted logs, then that might have happened).
It's possible to get in through the support interface if you know how, but rebuilding it is the direct approach. You probably could also check to see how full the OS partition is, since Linux Reader can see it. - JimboFosterAspirantWell, successfully recovered all the files prior to working the Duo v1 thanx to the Linux Reader.
I tried reinstalling the firmware and success the NAS is back up and running with Firmware v4.1.13 all files accessible and both HDD's ok too.
The only thing now is that after login in to the I now end up viewing a rather empty Setup screen for the Duo v1 at https://192.168.1.228/admin/ so at the moment I am unable to sort out the settings etc. Screen dump available but not able to attach to this entry (??)
In the first instance I am going away and enjoying my music again and the reboot everything to see what happens. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredCould be due to a variety of possible reasons.
Try clearing your web browser cache, closing your web browser then reopening Frontview
Also try a different web browser.
Try rebooting the NAS.
Also note that a Frontview is a low priority process. If your NAS is under a heavy workload at the moment try again when it is less busy.
If it still doesn't work you could:
1. do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything) and restore data from backup
or
2. if you prefer put your NAS in tech support mode, forward a port to port 23, let me know the WAN (Internet) I.P. and port e.g. via PM and I could take a look for something obvious.
Upload your image to e.g. imageshack.us and paste the forum code here. Not sure how many posts you need for this to work, but your current post count would be somewhere around the minimum required. - JimboFosterAspirantHi Guys. Thanx for help.
Success, but painfully. Had to do a full Factory Reset and reload the files, thankx to recovery from the HDD using the free Linux Reader.
It seems that several things must have happened to the Duo v1 that weekend.
1. It now appears that the log files totalled (53 files @ 1.23Gb) => Must manage the log files more regularly, achieved by accessing this & clearing thru Frontview.
2. The Firmware had become corrupted and this I did successfully, in as much as that Duo v1 could be seen on the LAN, however I was not able to set personalised passwords on the NAS as Frontview was corrupted.
3. Unfortunately, something had corrupted the HDD use through Frontview (proven by using a spare HDD to test the Duo v1), so I found myself obliged to go back to a Factory Reset.
Now all ok and recovering the data to this NAS.
NB. When using audio files from the ReadyNas (or I believe other NAS systems), I believe & found that it is necessary to personalize the passwords on the NAS before SONOS will gain access to and therefore create its Library from the NAS. (Hence the need for a full factory reset in my case, so I could manage the passwords etc.)
Thanks to StephenB & mdgm.
