ReadyNas File Search - Any impact on performance?

Hi All,

I note that FIle Search is disable by default on our ReadyNas 312.

Does having it enabled impact the performance of the Unit?

This may seem a daft question but why would you want it enabled, would a file search through windows not do the same thing?

Well, the indexing is saved on the NAS, so it would be faster than searching over your network connection.

Yes to some degree.  When it is indexing, it will of course generate a lot of disk activity.

You could turn it on and see.  If you find it isn't useful to you, just turn it off again.
