Jul 08, 2015ReadyNAS NIC bonding compatible with Cisco SG200 Switch?
I setup 802.3ad LACP bonding on my Neatgear ReadyNAS box. The bottleneck is now my router since I only have 1Gig ports on the back and can't setup bonding on my router.
If I get this Cisco Switch (it says it supports 802.3ad LACP) will I then be able to experience the full speed of "2 Gigabit" port speed?
Here's the switch: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product
I'm trying to transfer files faster than the 90MB/sec I seem to cap out at. Sometimes it goes faster, but not always.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWhat system are you trying to transfer the files to? Does that system also support LACP?
I don't know about the SG200 (I have a GS724Tv3 from Netgear).
LACP can increase speeds if you have multiple data flows (for instance multiple users). But each data flow is still limited to 1 gbit. - Retired_MemberMy Netgear ReadyNAS is setup as 802.3ad LACP. I want to plug the 2 ethernet cables into this Cisco switch and setup a 802.3ad LACP for those 2 ports.
I have NIC Teaming already setup on my desktop computer and I want to plug those 2 ethernet cables into the Cisco switch and setup a 802.3ad LACP for those 2 ports.
With everything connected and setup as 802.3ad LACP (NIC bonding) I want to accomplish closer to 2Gigabit speeds vs. 1Gig. - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
And LACP is not designed to do that, unless you have multiple file transfers happening at the same time (and perhaps not even then). See page 7 here: http://www.ieee802.org/3/hssg/public/ap ... 1_0407.pdfPowerMan572 wrote: With everything connected and setup as 802.3ad LACP (NIC bonding) I want to accomplish closer to 2Gigabit speeds vs. 1Gig.
Maybe try MLB first, since that doesn't require you to buy a switch. And its possible that MLB will increase your speed.
If you do buy the switch, use the "layer 3+4" xmit hash in the NAS (and the switch if it has it).
