ReadyNAS NV+ version 1 stuck on boot screen
Hello, love my ReadyNas NV+ version 1 for many many years. This morning it is stuck on boot. Running Xraid and memory maxed out.
Unit boots up fine and the LCD display on the unit shows:
"Booting...
C: 1.3/5.4T free"
And sits there. RAIDar 4.3.8 can't locate it on the local network. I can't log into its webpage. Lights on all drives are good. I can even hold down power and it properly shuts down. Did the paperclip firmware reset and it says so on the display but then boots up back to the screen above when finished booting. All drive lights are green.
Any help is appreciated. I don't want to wipe thre drives and start over.
Yes speed is one thing, but really I like fiddling with technology and the NAS is one of those areas I like. I use it for music delivery to wifi speakers and file/photo central storage. In reality, no one in my family is complaining about speed, but it's a convenient excuse :smileywink:.

What paper-clip option did you chose? One is destructive.
The one that you probably should try is "skip volume check" - page 23 here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RND2110/Duov1_NV+v1_HW_en_06Dec11.pdf
Did you check the activity light on the NIC interface?

Thanks for much.
I did the non-destructive method. I have a fairly recent backup but I really am trying to keep the data on as I believe the data is fine but the unit might be the issue. I know I can pull the drives and connect to my computer but that might be over my head.
Great question about the NIC lights, I don't see any at any time.
I will try skip volume check now.
Thanks again!

I performed the skip volume check and it ends with the same boot screen with used/free space screen. Still no lights on the NIC on the back of the NAS.
Should I try a USB boot next? If so will that erase the drives?
At this point should I buy a new Readnas NV+ V1 shell off ebay to get to the data on the drives?

Just did memory test all OK there.

I am thinking that the NIC has failed. I don't believe that is repairable.
If you have an unformatted scratch disk, you can power down, remove the current ones (labeling by slot), and install the scratch/power up.
That should do a factory install onto the scratch. If you can't reach that either, then I think that confirms the failed NIC.
