I have a 4 1/2 year old NV+ that was originally going to be rehomed. When that did not happen, I put it back in service rather than just sit idle. I have two NVX units, one is my primary server and the other is the target for the backups. When I put the NV+ back in service, it was as a second backup for my critical/important files found in two shares. I use rsync for all the backups. The files start backing up from NVX1 to NVX2 at midnight. At noon the next days the critical/important shares start backing up from NVX2 to the NV+. When I have compared the time taken for the rsync, it takes about twice as long to go from NVX2 to NV+ as it does from NVX1 to NVX2. But with rsync, we are talking about 10 typical vs 5 min typical. Keep in mind that rysnc will not work for backups from most PCs to an NAS. Both devices have to be rsync enabled.
My NV+ has served me well and has gone through two drive upgrades since I started with 2x500GB drives. If the unit is sound, it should serve you well.
