ReadyNAS Pro 2 Remote access Help

Hello, I know the ReadyNas Pro 2 is outdated pretty much and was wondering if I could still use the IP address to port Forward it to access it from anywhere. I know very little about networking but I managed to set it up on my home network without issue and created the accounts. I just can't seem to ping or access it from outside my home network, I know ReadyNAS Remote is not going to work with it as well or it still may but something screwed up after I shut down my ReadyNas for a few days after fixing the Error 3 code and now it's Error 5. So I am just trying to bypass the software and setup for remote thorugh the IP/Port forwarding. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

  • ReadyNAS Remote is discontinued, so that is not an option.

Port forwarding is possible, but you'd need to give us more information about what services you want to use remotely.  ReadyDLNA can't be forwarded, and SMB/CIFS shouldn't be.

Another option is to use a VPN.  Some routers have a built-in VPN service (for instance Netgear Nighthawk and Orbi Routers).  What router are you using?

Also, you can convert your Pro-2 to run OS-6.  That would give you the option of running ReadyCloud.  The process requires a factory default, so you would need to back up your files before doing that.

Thank you and sorry for the late response. I updated the Firmware to the OS-6 and now just trying to figure out how to set everything up.
