Readynas pro 6
I have a readynas 6 pro that had RAIDiator-x86 4.2.27. I had it dual redundant but the motherboard or something recently died and now it does nothing if I hit the power button. If I want my data off of it which piece of hardware can I buy?

The new RN526X, RN626X, RN528X or RN628X would be what I recommend. We have 8-bay options now! The 620 series have quad-core CPUs.
There is also the RN316, but that's an older model and not as powerful as the models mentioned above.
The procedure to follow is here: ReadyNAS: Migrating disks from RAIDiator 4.2 to ReadyNAS OS 6 (x86)

If you do go with a new 52x or 62x ReadyNAS, then the procedure to offload your data is here: https://kb.netgear.com/29957/ReadyNAS-Migrating-disks-from-RAIDiator-4-2-to-ReadyNAS-OS-6-x86?cid=wmt_netgear_organic

The power supply is a more likely failure than the system board - and the PSU can be replaced. If you search the forum, you will find quite a bit of material on that.
One possibility is to get a new NAS, and then try to repair the Pro - if you succeed you can use it for backup of the new NAS.

Hi guys,
I've actually been a readynas user since before the netgear acquisition with a 4 disk drive bay (that died a long time ago). I'm certain i'm out of warranty, but yeah i'll try to replace the psu and then maybe update the whole nas. If I do the migration will it just be some metadata changes or will it have to rewrite all the stripes?

The x86 OS6 NAS can mount the pro volume read-only, but that is only to allow you to copy off the data.
After that it's a complete wipe/restripe.
It still uses mdadm raid, but the file system is BTRFS, not EXT. There are other differences in the data volume setup - for instance, apps are installed to the data volume instead of the OS partition.
BTW It is possible to switch your Pro-6 over to OS6 also (when/if you get it working agin).

If you have a spare ATX supply lying around, or can "borrow" one from a PC, you can use that externally to verify it's the PSU before replacing or just to power it while recovering the data.
