ReadyNAS Ultra 4 OS6.9.4 powering down

I recently upgraded my Ultra 4 to OS6 and everything appears to be working great.  However, after I left home for Christmas my NAS went offline.  When I got back from vacation last night, the NAS was off and booted right up after pressing the power button. The log shows that it Powered down but provided no reason.

This morning around 5 am it appears to have shut down again.  The power settings appear to all be off so I'm not sure why it's shutting down.  Any help would be appreciated.

I also set up a ReadyNAS 314 at my parents over Christmas and it too appeared to shut down overnight once (or it might have just lost its DHCP).  Its been a couple days and hasn't happened again but I'm keeping an eye on it.

  • I suggest changing the schedule (lower screen shot) to always on, and see if that solves it.

If it does, then try enabling and then disabling the power schedule again (changing the schedule itself back to what you have now).

I once had a similar problem, and the power supply died a few weeks later.  After replacing the supply, the issue never again occurred, so I assumed they were related.  I believe the NAS thought I turned it off (and, thus, no message as to why).

The power on/off circuit uses the 5VSB power, which is one of the most fragile since it stays on, even when the NAS is "off".

It could be something else, but be aware that you could be going down the same path.

Okay.  The hardware has been reliably on for several years so this seems pretty new and likely related to the switch to OS6.  But it could be a coincidence.

The only other hardware change was a switch from 4 1TB hdd's to 2 4TB  (WD 5400rpm Reds) hdd's.  But that should lighten the power load

Is it possible that there was a glitch in the power?

Its connected to a UPS and hasn't had any previous power issues so seems unlikely.
