ReadyNas Ultra 4 Plus discontinued?
Hi Guys, I've been using my NV+ (v1) for a few years now and was thinking that it may be time to upgrade. I've started doing my research and decided that Ultra 4 Plus (RNDP400U-100NAS) is proba...

I can't see Netgear discontinuing the Ultra 4 Plus line but keeping the Ultra 4, that sounds totally unrealistic to me. I have the Ultra 4 (base model) and it's a significant step up from the Sparc Models in it's own right.
If you have a NV+ now I don't see the sudden urgency to upgrade *now*. Give it a few months and see what transpires, or get the Ultra 4. I only see the Plus model as being beneficial (for the extra cost) if your going to be running a lot of CPU intensive apps on it, say like PLEX for example.
I have a dozen add-ons running on my Ultra, and it hardly breaks a sweat. I did upgrade the RAM in it, but so far it's been one of the best purchases I've ever made. You also have to factor into the bargain the knowledge that moving to a new vendor means learning a completely new way of doing things. You already "know" how to administer the NV+ i'm assuming, so the Ultra wouldn't be that much different, and you'd have the NAS-to-NAS backup functionality in Replicate you also wouldn't get with a different brand.
Your money, your choice, but I know what I'd do.
