Hi,
The disk manufacturer/model doesn't matter. You can replace a Seagate disk with a WD disk and vice versa. No problem.
Just make sure those disks are the same size and on the official compatibility list of course.

No, not for the legacy NAS. Netgear hasn't updated that list in years, and many are no longer available.
If you are happy with with a consumer-grade drive (as I am) then just get a WD Red or a Seagate Ironwolf and be done with it.
If you prefer enterprise, then just use the enterprise drive of your choice. WD Red Pro, WD Gold, Seagate Ironwolf Pro, etc.
