  • What do you mean by "fails to reboot"?  It simply ignores the command, or the software seems to be stopping but the hardware never does the actual reset?

The NIC and the power on/off circuitry are powered by the same source, which is +5VSB (+5 Volts Standby), which is always on, even when the NAS is off (unless unplugged or switched off at the rear of the unit).  Therefore, it's often the first section of the supply to go.  If you have available a standard ATXV12 power supply, you can connect it externally in place of the internal one to see if that fixes it before you buy a replacement that fits internally (SFX format).

      thank you for the reply.
it just won't boot when the cable connected.
starts to boot after thefs check it reboots
one  the network cable disconnected it works ok.

after booting it works ok even with the cable attached.

      i can read the files

but when i try loading files it sometimes boots again.

i dotb have spare power supply

if that is most likely the solution

      i"ll buy one

This doesn't sound like a power supply issue to me.

What firmware are you running on the NAS?

Do you have a backup of the data?
